Holiday Food and Cooking Safety

With the holiday season approaching, lots of cooking with family and family gatherings will be happening. To keep the season fun and safe, here are some safety tips from the American Academy of Pediatrics:

  • Wash and cook food thoroughly
  • Wash hands
  • Sample foods with clean utensils to not spread germs
  • Keep raw foods separately and thaw foods in the refrigerator
  • Prevent burns and other kitchen injuries by keeping hot liquids and food from edge of counter, put pan handles to the side or back of stove and supervise young children in the kitchen.
  • Within two hours of cooking or removing food from a heat source, store leftovers in fridge.
